In My Own Words

By observing the tenets of Tae Kwon Do, I promise to be honest with my dealings with others to respect their feelings and ideas, to be strong, and realizing that most good things come with a lot of hard work, sweat, and tears, so never give up. If someone angers you don't get mad and lose your temper. Think before you speak because once those words or actions leave your body it's done, if you shoot a gun can you retrieve the bullet? So the goal here would be to never quit trying, control my actions, and not to get discouraged when I do slip, after all I'm only human. I shall respect my instructors and seniors, why would you want to bite the hand that feeds you, "so to speak"? After all by choice Sabum Nim decided to share with me her experience, so who am I to be disrespectful and ungrateful? No I should thank my instructors and seniors every day for sharing with me their experience and making it a little easier for me. So if I were to misuse these teachings, I would be greatly disrespecting those who taught me all I know today. To be a champion of freedom and justice is to be fair and just to my fellow human beings, to help those who are less fortunate than myself, so their road in life might be just a little bit easier. In helping to make this world a more peaceful place, I need to start with myself, have peace in my own heart, then I will be able to help others lead more peaceful and productive lives. We must always strive to take the more peaceful road. But, we must also be firm in what we believe, and be careful not to get peaceful and pushover confused. There is a big difference. Stand strong and let your voice be heard.
